Gustav

As of 3 minutes ago, the news is cautiously optimistic about New Orleans itself, although less-populated areas of the coast are still expected to get slammed. I feel like I'm holding my breath.

From our end of things (which is a couple hundred miles away, don't get me wrong!) Gustave has so far not lived up to the hype... I definitely feel optimistic about NOLA! I wonder about Lake Charles, where my friend W's family lives (but they evacuated to her house, so they're all ok, just might not have stuff to get back to... her grandma has been thinking about moving here, tho, so maybe this will be a good time for that to happen! She's a pretty awesome, old skool Jewish grandma, albeit southern style :D She loves us cause we're W's only Jewish friends here!)

I'm glad things are OK so far... I hope I hope! Grandma W sounds like a person I'd like to meet.

It looks to me like we've seen the worst of it (not bad) already. There's not much wind at the moment and the rain's died down again...

My MIL called in a panic again an hour ago. Sigh. I hate the fricking media!

Grandma W is pretty darn cool!
