The Kim family tragedy is freaking me out a little bit in a personal way because apparently they were headed to Gold Beach, Oregon. Gold Beach is where my dad crashed his plane. I have lately been wondering if the wreckage is still there in the mountains--apparently it's often left if it's in a place where it would be difficult to remove. But they had to go there to get his body, so I don't know.

Aubrey is here watching Blue (Bless you, Aubrey!) so I am supposed to be working--and I am, but I took a short break to write this. I hope I don't get in trouble with Aubrey. :P Anyway, I just wanted to note that Evan saw a neurosurgeon this morning who showed us his ruptured disk on the MRI and recommended surgery, which will hopefully be scheduled for next week. I don't know anything about recovery times or measures yet.

Hi there and happy Sabbath!! I was browsing LJ looking for people who are Adventist and found this journal through your son's. I was wondering if I could add both to my friends list?

The Kim tragedy struck me really hard, but I'm not sure why. Maybe because it seems too many families are being left without fathers these days (Steve Irwin's, Kim family, and others). :(

I hope Even is feeling better soon. I'm also getting to know about MRIs and neurosurgeons and surgeries (I have a tumor in my shoulder). I'll keep him in my prayers. :)

Hi! You are welcome to add both to your friends list. I'm not really a mainstream Adventist, in fact I guess I'm a bit of a maverick, and I'm not averse to a bit of vulgarity so be forewarned. Otherwise, welcome! :-) I'll read you from neuraltube.

Yes, the families-without-fathers thing always strikes me. My dad crashed his plane when I was 7.

What kind of tumor do you have in your shoulder? I'm guessing it's benign?

I'm not really mainstream Adventist, either. I'm conservative, but a lot more open minded than the typical Adventist. That has earned me the label "liberal" from some. :P

They don't know what kind of tumor it is, but guessing it's benign. My consultation with a neurosurgeon is on Dec. 22.

I'm sorry about your dad... :(:(

Hey, what's up with that tumor? :-)

The doctor said he wasn't too concerned about it. He gave me a couple of options. I could either wait six months and see what happens, going back in for another MRI, undergo radiation therapy, or have surgery. We're waiting for six months. No insurance. :P

P.S. I just looked at your profile and saw the birthchoices community--joined, thanks! I'm a doula, among other things. Are you by chance TTC?

I wish! We're trying to avoid conception, but I'm learning as much as I can right now. My husband and I have only been married a year and want to wait at least another year before having a child. We've been talking a lot lately about different options for childbirth and childrearing.
