Hellfudge

Hellfudge is going to the vet in less than an hour. She is not coming home.

I tried to talk to Blue about it a little bit yesterday, when he came up to me as I was crying over Hellfudge. He wanted to know if she was sick, and I said yes, she was sick and tired and old, and she might be going away pretty soon. He said "And then she's coming back?"

18 years is a long time. I have been so lucky to have her for so long. She is such a wonderful cat. Everyone who knows her knows how special she is... well, at least MOST people do. Nathan will probably be glad she won't be sneezing at him anymore. If he says something like that next time I talk to him I just might stab him.

I love this cat! I would be holding her right now but she doesn't want to be held, or petted, or anything. She just wants to lie in the grass at the back fence, in the sun and the wind. She's just dozing and waiting. Anything that brings her to the present moment is an annoyance to her. She is ready to go.

Open a can of tuna for her and give her the water (tuna juice). Tell her Bast is waiting and she is a Good Cat and that she is loved.

Thinking of you and holding you close in my heart right now. Hellfudge will be greatly missed by all who knew her ~ count me as one of them. Fudgers was a such a unique cat ~ what a personality she had! I'll never forget the time she jumped up the side of the door frame and slid down it ~ freaked me out! LOL. I remember spending many visits at your home playing with her. She was very lucky to have you.

I hope that Stinky does ok without her too. She's always been there for him.

Lisa... :( *hugs* Hellfudge has had a wonderful life with you, with all the love and caring a kitty could ask for. I started crying as soon as I read your first sentence because I just had to go through this with Sasha at the end of last year. Seriously one of the hardest things we ever have to do in our lives, to let them go when they are so tired and sick, but it's the right thing. She sounds like she is ready to rest, poor old girl. I'm sorry you have to go through this... you guys will miss her so much, but will keep so many wonderful memories of the time you were blessed to have her in your life.

Lotsa love and hugs. At least you feel clear that she's ready to go. I remember that with Earl we made a decision that it was time but weren't quite sure we were right. I was so relieved that the morning we went to the vet he seemed completely peaceful and ready for the first time. It's still devastating, of course, but clarity is good. We'll be thinking of you.

He hasn't asked about her directly yet. He did turn to me this morning and say "Mom, I can make Hellfudge all better, if you are sad I can." I just said thanks. ?!
