Last night on Oak St I saw a little white Smart Car (love those things!) completely tricked out for Christmas. It had four dinner-plate-size snowflakes made of blue and white lights swinging across the back window, and on the roof, two "presents" consisting of box-shaped lights (one yellow, one red) with light-string bows on top. Adorable! The car was mostly white but had black cow spots on its sides, so it's festive even when it's not Christmas. The best part was the license plate: OMG HAHA.

Let the record show that I was wrong, wrong, wrong when I said that I didn't think there would be a significant price drop in San Francisco real estate. I expected surrounding areas to drop but in SF proper I expected only a slight dip. Today the newspaper says that median price in 10/07 was $842k and in 10/08 was $702k. The peak was 5/07 at $900k. Of course, the only houses that are actually selling are on the low end because you can't get a jumbo loan anymore, so that could have something to do with it. And I still can't find a house on the market that looks like we could fit into it and not get killed walking to the car for under $800k but hey, I'm not in the market anyway. It's just interesting to see this stuff happen. Once I started shopping for a house I caught the real estate bug and never stopped shopping, even though I'm not buying.

My brain (actually, my heart) is all scrambled up but I feel like posting tidbits anyway.

It turns out that Great Moments With Mr Lincoln is at some point supposed to be reinstalled at Disneyland. I noticed it was gone at these last two visits and was sad. I always get a thrill out of it, for some reason. There is no date attached to the revival of Mr Lincoln in the Wikipedia entry, and I guess they'll be changing up the show so we might not be hearing Two Brothers anymore (snif) but that's OK. I'll take Abe in whatever context I can get.
