AAAAAAAAH!

I was just talking to someone about how I like to stay out of LJ drama, although I do like to read it sometimes. Then someone posted something on a community that made me want to tear my hair out. It's a good thing that replies were frozen (after 372 comments, no less) but I feel the need to post this info somewhere, so my personal LJ will have to do.

In (indirect, will-never-be-seen-by-the-OP) response to a commenter who said that "only 12" of boy babies are left uncircumcised in the U.S., BZZZZZZZZZZT! WRONG!!

http://www.circumstitions.com/USA.html

In the Western U.S., about 32% of boys born in 2003 were circumcised. Nationwide, the figure was about 56%.

The following link addresses circumcisions performed in the hospital only, so the rates of circumcision are a bit lower. But the general trends look the same. And it seems to correlate with what the link above says about the Midwest.

I'm not going to freak out on anyone for their choice. I think anyone who knows me in real life knows this. But I do think that everyone should be informed of at least the basic facts.
