I did not know this! Remember the video for the Tubes' "She's a Beauty?" It was pretty weird to me when I was a kid. In fact, it's still weird--check it out on YouTube. Sadly, you only get one small glimpse of Vince. But the factoid: Alexis Arquette's in it. He's the boy on the funhouse ride. Whoa! He was 12; it was 1982.
Alexis was part of a group that Robert Taylor hung out with briefly in Hollywood, so I met him a couple of times. He was really fun and actually kindof nice at that time, especially for a Hollywood kid with famous siblings.
I just looked him up on Wikipedia and it looks like she's now female. She was more of a drag queen for many years; I didn't realize she was actually trans. Apparently she made a movie about her transition. Now I have to see it!
EDIT: The movie is saveable on Netflix, but they don't know when it will come out. More I-didn't-know-that roles for Alexis: "The guy who comes out of the bathroom" in Pulp Fiction, and one of the TV-show cops in Spun. Spun, BTW, was a very good movie, but only if you have some familiarity with the subject matter and/or if you have a high tolerance for dark, ugly, fast-action movies.

Date: 2008-03-10 09:28 pm (UTC)I absolutely remember that video. I saw The Tubes live in *um, thinking* 1982 or '83. I was in the front row and I caught an autographed album (by the "Tube-ettes," not the band) that I still have somewhere. It was also the first time I ever saw a cordless microphone. Such a big deal back then.
