Today was MUCH better, even though I didn't really get anything done.

I left Blue in the crib so I could take a shower. He was really mellow and playing with his soft blue doggie when I left him--I even thought he might fall asleep--but apparently he started screaming at some point because when I got out of the shower Nathan had him in the office. Thanks Uncle Nate! I felt bad about leaving Blue but I knew that this was one of those situations in which I really, really needed to get that shower so I could become a normal happy mommy. And you know what? It worked! I got up, I put some laundry in, I got Blue dressed, and we went out. I ate at a drive-thru AGAIN (blech) but then I went to Rainbow for some dipes 'n' wipes for the trip. I'm going to put Blue mostly in disposables, and bring a few cloth dipes just in case he gets rashy. And I needed disposable baby wipes for the trip also--since we have switched to cloth wipes at home I didn't have a lot stocked up. As it is I only bought one pack and a small travel pack. Anyway, then we went over to Paul & Annie's for a visit. Calvin is SO big and grown-up and expressing himself very well. I checked out their huge new pad and we went for a pleasant walk in the east bay sunshine. Then I headed back over the bridge in time to see Flo & Greg (and Vaughn and Eva) and pick up my mei tai in case I want to bring it tomorrow--not sure yet what carrier(s) I'm bringing for the airport. It took forever to get over the bridge but it ended up being perfect for Blue's long afternoon nap. Eva is so tiny next to Blue, it's really cute to put them together. They both reached for each other a lot--very sweet. It turns out Flo is working halftime from home, so I can go over there anytime to hang out. I am SO relieved to know this. I hope I can get myself to get off my ass and go over there once in a while, as well as to Kathy's. This mommy stuff can be pretty isolating. I'm excited for Annie to have her baby too--can't wait to hold a newborn and get to know her as she grows. Anyway, when we got home Blue was RAVENOUS even though it was past his bedtime; I fed him the rest of the sweet potato/avocado combo that he had rejected earlier today, then a huge bunch of goat's milk yogurt. He just wouldn't stop! I suspect that my milk supply has been quite low for a few days because I've been feeling so stressed and down. He was too hyper to go to sleep until 9:30 or so. We got up and went back to bed a couple of times before he stopped having huge fights with the covers and digging his toenails into my navel and such. So yeah, like I said, I didn't get much done other than a bit of shopping and a start on the laundry, but I feel loads better.

Evan will be here late tonight and has promised to watch Blue for the day tomorrow while I get my stuff together to leave. We'll see how that goes. Meantime, I should be working!
