I listened to this song yesterday in the car and decided to share it with you all. If you haven't heard much Eurythmics beyond Here Comes The Rain Again and Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This, try listening to this song with your eyes closed (i.e. not distracted by the video, although it is quite good for the time I think.)

Also, comment with your favorite Eurythmics song!

Love is a stranger
In an open car
To tempt you in
And drive you far away

And I want you
And I want you
And I want you so
It's an obsession

Love is a danger
Of a different kind
To take you away
And leave you far behind
And love love love
Is a dangerous drug
You have to receive it
And you still can't
Get enough of the stuff

It's savage and it's cruel
And it shines like destruction
Comes in like the flood
And it seems like religion
It's noble and it's brutal
It distorts and deranges
And it wrenches you up
And you're left like a zombie

And I want you
And I want you
And I want you so
It's an obsession

It's gilt edged
Glamorous and sleek by design
It's jealous by nature
False and unkind
It's hard and restrained
And it's totally cool
It touches and it teases
As you stumble in the debris

And I want you
And I want you
And I want you so
It's an obsession

Great song! Definitely in my top 10 favorite Eurythmics songs.

My favorite? Probably "Thorn In My Side" (especially the extended version which contains extra lyrics). "Shame" would be a close second.

Whoa! What are you doing here? I had no idea you were ever even checking in, but I'm delighted to see you.

I can't decide on my favorite Eurythmics song... um... I do love this one! And I love Annie's solo stuff, too... and I even like Marilyn Manson's COVER of Sweet Dreams, b/c DOOD. Awesome cover is awesome (I'm actually not usually a huge fan of his music, although I'm a fan of his politics/ intellectual and creative outlook.)

OK, if I have to choose: Missionary Man (cause he's got GAWD on his side, baby! "Stop what you're doing/ get down upon your knees, I've a message for you that you better BELIEVE, believe, believe!" That and and the Jesus song from Depeche Mode ROCK MY WORLD and I would like to hear them in a mash up :D

(I still don't know if I've ever seen the Love is a Stranger video, I'll look at it later!)

Thanks!

I haven't heard Marilyn Manson's cover of Sweet Dreams but now I must!

It's funny, I've always been kinda allergic to songs like Personal Jesus, because of my own beliefs, you know? But I think it's a cool-sounding song. Just kept a bit of distance from it in my head I guess. :)

They're so good at cynicism about love.
