It used to be that if I commented somewhere, and someone else commented after my comment, I got an LJ notification. Now I only get an LJ notification for the comment just after mine, and if someone else jumps in on the conversation after the first other person's comment I don't get a notification for that.

WEIRD. I totally used to get all responses downthread from my comment, and I have lots of examples in gmail to prove to myself that I am not crazy. So weird.

Because you are only notified of comments directly in reply to yours, unlike FB where you're notified everytime someone comments after you. If you want to track and recieve all comments on a post, there is an icon at the top of the page to let you do that (or you can click the "Track Comments" button).

I really don't think that has ever been a standard feature unless you choose to track comments individually. There is no option for all posts according to the FAQ.

You can still track threads if you want to get all comments that follow instead of just direct answers to you.

You're not crazy. I too have noticed the change (tho it happened a while back - I assumed it was to stop a lot of the dramaz.

I think it may have happened around the time there was that huge backlog/bug that prevented LJ notifications from going out for a while... maybe something they "fixed" then did it. IDK.
