I can't believe I didn't know about these.

How bad could the picture quality possibly be? I'm thinking of taking up a collection. LOL

Of all the stereotypes I could see you fitting into, Hello Kitty fanatic was absolutely not one of them!

Really? LOL! I'm not sure who the typical HK freak is these days, but I've been in love with HK since 1976. :) I don't collect every little thing anymore but if I can find a functional use for a HK item I will buy it.

I require one of those immediately. I've heard the Flips are really awesome.

It's my Chinese New Year icon. :)

Xin nian kuai le! (I'm learning Mandarin, you gave me the Cantonese happy new year :P)

Cool, Mandarin! The Cantonese one is the one I hear a lot around here. Of course we have a huge Chinese population here; I wonder if more people speak Cantonese here than Mandarin?

It's entirely possible. I remember when I was in Chinatown in San Franciso Justin said the majority of the people around us (in the places we were shopping/eating at) were speaking Cantonese and he had no idea what they were saying.

Ugh, I wish ASAP. My mom and sister were there two weeks ago. I loved San Francisco. Northern CA was the only part of the whole damn state I really liked.

It's a big state, and there are a lot of cool things here, but SF is definitely my favorite. Obviously--I've been here 20 years!

Our neighborhood elementary school has a Chinese immersion program, both Cantonese and Mandarin, that runs from K-5. Started in 1984.

My ex has probably told me a bunch of times which language was dominant (he knows the diff and has learned some Mandarin) but I kept forgetting. Wikipedia just told me Cantonese is dominant here.

I lived in Orange County for about three years. It was pretty awful, lol.

I would kill to send my kids to a school like that. I should look and see if there are any near Boston.

Ha ha, oh yeah, I did my time in SoCal. The Inland Empire, to be specific. Orange County is certainly no better, except for a marginal improvement in air quality. Socially, UGH.

Poor you. I lived in Garden Grove for a while, then we moved to Orange. Orange was much nicer, but I still didn't like it out there.

I did like the Huntington Dog Beach and the close proximity to Disneyland. Other than that, I will happily stay at home in New England. :P

Nina has used her flip *every day* since she got it a couple years ago. The picture quality for stills is fine if you have a steady hand; for movies, for what it is, and how easy it is to use, are GREAT. Nina has captured stuff (games played with Calvin and Rose) that we never would have seen, and within the first week she was directing talk shows with her brother.

The Flip rules.
