What do YOU put into your tuna salad?

Oh, yeah. That too. When I think about it. So good.

We add mayo, finely chopped celery & apples, crushed up walnuts and lettuce! :D

I like Salad Nicoise - tuna, anchovies, olives and hard boiled eggs. (although the inner yolk just soft).

Usually just mayo, chopped red onion, and sometimes celery. Occasionally I'll just start throwing in spoonfuls of whatever looks good, like capers or olive tapenade.

I'm a vegetarian, so I make a "mock" tuna salad, using mushed up garbanzo beans, celery, diced dill pickles, green onions, kelp powder (which helps give the beans a bit of a fishy taste, so I wouldn't use it with actual tuna!), a dash of soy sauce, a bit of nutritional yeast, and ranch dressing instead of mayo.

What do you put in yours?!

It varies. I'll post about the fabulousness that I made tonight! :)

My religion holds vegetarianism as the ideal, and they invented a bunch of meat substitutes many years ago that I grew up on. (They started Morningstar Farms in fact but it's owned by someone else now.) So I used to get Tuno, fake tuna, in cans. It could be used exactly like real tuna and it was delicious! I don't think they make it anymore though. We still eat a lot of fake bacon and Big Franks and such.

Oh man, I wish they still made something like that! Tuna is seriously the the only meat I miss! I almost caved while I was pregnant, I was craving it so bad. That's when I started making the "mock tuna" with chickpeas. :)

That recipe is so interesting, I will have to try it!

It's really good, and even my meat-eating husband agrees that it tastes surprisingly like tuna! :)

Mayo and dill pickles.

My absolute favorite style is blended in a food processor with tons of mayo and onion. I think of that as NY deli style, my FIL introduced it to me.

Growing up, I had mayo and sweet pickle relish and that's how I usually make mine (plus I butter my bread for added oomph!)

Just mayo. If I'm home and have some on hand, I'll add some Salad Sprinkle from Penzeys. But as much as I like pickles, I don't like them in tuna salad. Or celery. No crunching!
