Sorry for wrong impression! Not my teeth. Fancy "model" teeth on fancy equipment in use by awesome dentist. I had my back molar half carved up and half replaced with an inlay (like a crown but just in the inner part.) A little tender today and $1300 poorer... but you know how that goes. Ugh.
Dude, it is the coolest thing, I'm glad you asked. It's a newfangled computerized technology thingie to make inlays and crowns onsite. The dentist carved up my tooth a bunch, leaving 3 of the 4 corners intact because he could, then stuck a little camera thingie in the tooth and took a bunch of pictures. Then a 3D model of the tooth popped up on the screen, he did some clicking and dragging design work, popped a chunk of composite (he can do porcelain too) in the machine and it goes whizz-brr for 8 minutes and out pops a perfect little inlay. He does a little artwork to make it look like a real tooth and glues it in! Voila! This is my second inlay and I am really impressed with the technology, I have to say. I love this dentist.
I did not know about the gold tooth. Which one is it?
One day I was babysitting and I got down at kid level to really chastise the girl and as I'm going off about whatever I'm going off about she suddenly got this awed look on her face and said "You have gold in your tooth!". It wS so cute I had to stop being mad.
Also, probably the best thing about the technology (I don't know what it's actually called) is not having to do two visits for a crown or inlay. To get it all done at once is worth a lot, even more than the fun of watching the process.
