I had an echocardiogram today. Nothing serious, just following up on the one I had a few years ago to see if my heart is getting damaged by my high blood pressure. The technician was this cool Russian lady who explained everything she could see in great detail. The machinery and what it could detect and measure is amazing. I watched the blood rush through all four chambers of my heart, changing colors to indicate velocity. It is a very strange thing to watch the organ that's keeping you alive go flub-flub on a big screen. I felt acutely mortal.
