Hard luck this time

There's this great little market close to my house that specializes in treats from Ireland, along with all the regular neighborhood-market stuff. I stopped by there on my way home from the hospital tonight, and now I am eating a Cadbury's Turkish dairy milk chocolate bar, which is something I discovered in England and haven't seen here in the U.S. until today. It's weird, a bit perfumey and not really my favorite, but I had to have it for nostalgia's sake.

Cute--it's an instant-winner sweepstakes bar, and inside the wrapper there's a box that says "Hard luck this time. Please try again."

Oh, yes, I said hospital. You noticed. Blue and I took Evan to the Emergency Department this morning because he developed a sharp and jarring pain in his hip joint overnight. He couldn't walk at all this morning and was in terrible pain. We called his doctor who recommended he go to the ER, so off we went. He is still there (almost midnight) but they haven't found anything wrong on an x-ray or a CT scan, so he's on his way home. I can't even go pick him up because Blue is sleeping and Nathan isn't home. Poor guy has to come on crutches and take a cab.

Thanks! Me too. The scariest possibilities that his doctor mentioned on the phone this morning seem not to have materialized, so that's good. But I just can't imagine what it is. Poor guy. And poor me, because this means I have no help. OTOH, he can't mess up the house if he's stuck in one place!

Oh, dear, I hope you are doing OK. I know the treatment is very very rough. You are so strong and I love reading your kickass can-do posts. Your attitude will carry you far. What chemo are they giving you--5FU?

Taxotere, Cis-Platin and 5-Flu for 4 days then a break of 3 weeks, it is quite tiring but planning my wedding is fun! I may send you a mail with details of my wedding, we both need chearing up. Hugs.

Geez, that would REALLY suck! Except he doesn't know the word for "hip" so we would never know what was wrong. He says "Ow!" a lot now, but I think it's just for effect. ;-)

Yeah. He managed to get from the futon to the bedroom while I was gone this afternoon, but downstairs is a whole 'nother story.

He swears it isn't, but one can't always tell. He says that it feels like someone took a cheese grater to his femoral head. We're thinking it could be a complication of a new medicine he's taking; maybe it will just magically go away when the medicine is flushed from his system.
