I hope everyone does this one.

Reply to me in this post, and I will tell you why I like you. Post in your own journal and spread the good vibes - we all need good vibes! :-)

I love your wry self-awareness, and your interest in books and music. I am impressed that you are reading books again at all--I still haven't managed one and my kid is much older than yours! And you're very caring and supportive, too.

Seconded on needing that morale boost, please.

The first thing that springs to mind is your wit. I envy you that, in a good way. You are a wonderful writer and a strong woman. Maybe even admirably hard-headed, but with soft and vulnerable places too. I find your varied interests and capabilities fascinating, and love your strong cultural identity. I love the way you sing to Arabis in Armenian.

Oh, you!! I love your passion--for breastfeeding, for parenting, for life. You are honest and find ways to be cheery about the most daunting things. Most important to me, though, is the reason I friended you in the first place. Your comments, explication and cheerleading in various LJ communities (but especially in [livejournal.com profile] breastfeeding are so right-on, so encouraging and empowering and loving, in just the way that new moms need. You are making a difference in a way that I greatly admire.

Does it say something about my confidence that I feel asking you to do this for me would be a huge burden? lol

Oh well..

I have this general very positive impression of you from way back in the Feb2005 days. We have a lot of overlapping interests, and of course I like you for that! You're smart and funny, you're a great mom, and you have a good head on your shoulders--you seem very solid. You named your kid Layne, yay! And you are also SO AWESOME, OH HAY HOME BIRTH!!!

Yep, just like that! The thing I like best about you is that you are a great commenter, both on your friends' journals and in communities. You do a lot of commiserating and supporting people in that way. And you're honest and open about your personal life which is valuable for others who are going through what you deal with.

You are incredibly well-informed and self-directed. I love how committed you are to parenting in the way that you've chosen, and you're so helpful to others with all your comments, links, and other ways of sharing information. I almost always agree with you, so that helps! :-) I'm in awe of your traditional-wife skills like cooking, decorating, and sewing, none of which I can do. You have a wonderful sense of family and a great connection to your past. I also admire the way you prioritize your marriage and work to stay connected to your husband. Genevieve, you're swell!

Made my will yesterday and I have a date of the 9th for my surgery so I need support today - how are things with you by the way?

Wow, surgery. Are you having an esophagectomy? I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers that day especially. I'm assuming that the tumor has shrunk down and that's why the surgery has stayed part of the plan, and that is really wonderful.

I'm doing OK, hanging in as usual. Evan's been better so that makes life a lot easier lately.

OK, on to what I like about you. Obviously I very much admire your ability to look a tough situation dead in the eye, see it clearly, experience and explain your emotions, and still have the presence of mind to deal with it squarely. You are extraordinarily healthy emotionally and that is a very attractive quality in a friend! You're really good at being clear about what and how you're feeling, and a great writer in general. And I love that you are such a romantic as well. :-) I've only known you a short time and as a result of your illness, so these are the things that I know about you so far. I look forward to getting to know the rest of you over time.

Ping.

What I like about you is your never-failing ability to make me feel better. Your words of wisdom are always what I need to hear. We don't get to see eacho ther nearly often enough but it seems like we do just in our getting to know each other here.

Thank you!

What I like about you is your willingness to be open about really tough things, and your unwavering support of what you believe in. You're so great and encouraging in the breastfeeding communities; I know you've had a positive impact on many mamas and babies. You're sincere, thoughtful, and trustworthy--a quality I value very highly. I'm glad to know you.
