I think most people in U.S. TV and movies have the same "accent" as me... like the people on Friends, LOL.

The funny thing is, I used to have a major Valley Girl accent going on. Remember that song? Surely some of you are old enough to remember when it was on the radio. I had a lovely but very naive neighbor at the time, and we were playing at my house when Valley Girl came on the radio. Launa looked at me, wide-eyed, and said "Is that YOU?!"

Like, OMG, gag me with a spoon!

What American accent do you have?

Western. Like Midland, Western is another accent that people consider neutral. So, you might not actually be from the Western half of the country, but you definitely sound like it.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?

I got Northern - which makes sense because that includes Michigan, which is my home state. I am surprised, though - because I'd never notice that I have a different accent than you, for example.

Though a friend from Seattle said she could tell from the way I said certain words (I forget which, now... but I think one was 'apple'.) Who knew?

I totally hear the Michigan in your voice sometimes, but it's very subtle. I'll try to remember to point it out if I notice it again.
