Here's the headline I saw on MSN today:

Ireland bans its first video game, calling it 'gross'

Here's the paragraph of the story on which the headline was based:

"However, in the case of 'Manhunt 2,' IFCO (the Irish Film Censor's Office) believes that there is no such context, and the level of gross, unrelenting and gratuitous violence is unacceptable," Kelleher said in a statement.

Um. Yeah. I'm pretty sure the spokesman meant "flagrant, extreme, indelicate, obscene, indecent or vulgar," not "ew, yucky!"

What does it mean when even purported journalists can't read and speak English any more?

The frustrated English teacher in me says that it means the world is ending.
