The funny thing about this is that most of the comments are all "LOL FURRIES."

Very interesting. The whole "LOL FURRIES" trend shows that people really don't give a crap about staying out of other people's business unless it goes the other way around. One person's personal preference is another person's punchline. I'm not here to defend furries but I don't think that they deserve the kind of harassment they get from people. Sure these people have a bizarre fetish but it's no worse than someone who has a preference for Asian women or women with big boobs but you don't see the people with those preferences get harassed.

Religions, governments, and other social establishments have controlled sex as a display of dominance by trying to establish what's taboo and what's accepted. When you can control the very basic and primal aspects of human existence then there's nothing else you can't control.

Y U so serious, bb? j/k

I think that the furry thing IS a bit "worse" (or at least more extreme) than a fetish for Asians or big jugs, because it requires dressing up elaborately as an animal, and penetrating others (and stuffed animals) through a veil of fake fur. In other words, it's much more of a put-on, and I think what really gets people about it besides the fact that it looks ridiculous to most people is that it's infantile.

However, on principle I do agree with your point that they don't deserve to be ridiculed any more than any other fetishist, and the fact that they are singled out for especially harsh treatment serves no one.

Your last paragraph, while technically true, is a bit over the top in relation to this topic. I don't believe that the, ahem, fursecution we all witness in our little corner of the internet is at all organized. And while the effect of ridicule may be oppression (though I certainly don't see furries going underground) I think that in this case the ridicule comes from the fact that people find it funny, not because they want it to go away.

It doesn't necessarily have to be organized for it to not have an impact with the people that get affected. Should we stand by while other people make fun of homosexuals even though it's not necessarily an organized approach?

I don't have a problem with smaller groups of people discussing the humor behind other people's sexual preferences like let's say between a group of friends over a cigarette break but I have a problem when far reaching media formats such as the internet become a platform for it. While the intent may not be as sinister the effects of it can be devastating to the people who get affected. There are many sites (i.e. EncyclopediaDramatica) that glorify the mental and physical abuse of furries. There are videos on YouTube that show blatant violence against furries. It doesn't matter whether the reason is because people want it to go away or because people find it funny. The end result is that these people become outcasts because of their sexual preference/fetish. It clearly sends the wrong message and only further encourages control over human sexuality.

No, and I didn't say we should stand by, either.

We mostly agree. And violence is always wrong IMO. Your points are noted.

Is it wrong that I found that just the slightest bit hot? ;)

Also - tentacle porn. hee!

Of course, who am I to comment about odd fetishes?
