I ran out for ice cream, because it's a really hot day and I'm working downstairs for most of it. As I was coming out of Walgreens with the ice cream in my bag, I saw something scurry toward me on the sidewalk... A RAT. WHICH PROCEEDED TO RUN OVER MY FOOT.

Ew ew ew.

But you know, the revulsion faded quickly, and I got a glimpse of his disheveled furry brown rat face as he ran around the corner, and I am sad for him now. I wonder what brought him out into the light of day? Was he flooded or chased out of his home? Was it something to do with the heat? Was it a mama rat, and are her babies OK?

I am such a sap, I can't even believe it.

I used to have rats as pets as a child. I'm not anti-rat, but these mangy brown sewer rats are kinda different, to me.

Saw a homeless (?) dude with his pet (?) rat today. He was petting it as it was scurrying all over him. It didn't look like the kind of rat you get at Petsmart.

In other grossness, today on the 22 Fillmore (where else, really?) a lady started picking at her mouth full of thrush right in front of the 3 of us. I feel bad for her (as oral thrush in grown ups is never a good sign) but we went to another part of the bus.
