The Hershey's hot fudge they sell in a jar is NOT the same as the Hershey's hot fudge in a can. They don't sell the canned kind anymore, near as I can tell. Another piece of my childhood gone. Like Wacky Wafers, dammit.

Now that this season of American Idol is over I'll have so much more time to get things done. SRSLY.

I don't see my friends nearly enough. I miss them all terribly.

Some reasons that I love working in hospitals:
Cafeterias, usually with reasonably healthy food and a salad bar, and vending machines for overnight--with coffee!
Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week--a big bonus for people like me who like to stay up all night
24-hour security
Lots of clean bathrooms, and locker rooms with showers (though you can't fake your way into using them without the right badge at some hospitals)
And truthfully, although of course there are some notorious exceptions to this rule, hospitals are generally filled with people who chose their careers for altruistic reasons and are concerned with caring for others.

Really? Well dang. I am really glad to know that they haven't stopped making it but I guess I'm not hard up enough yet to request a shipment... I'll keep my eyes open when I travel and am bound to find some somewhere. Thanks for the encouragement on my search!

Yup, I've seen in here (I don't remember if it was the big chain grocery store called Hy-Vee or Wal-Mart) and in Chicago when I was visiting my mom (at one of the big chains there called Jewel). Jewel is owned by Albertsons now... and I think A's are in CA if I'm not mistaken. So that might be a possibility.

I love that stuff, too... total childhood memory. Brown can, yellow cap. In fact, my mom used to use one of the empty and washed-out cans to hide money in the cabinet in case of a break in (she was a little paranoid).

Me too. I can never get it together to eat salad at home before it rots though. What salad bar can we visit together? Fresh Choice is very kid friendly.

Yeah, but where is a Fresh Choice nearby? Mojo talks about that chain too, but I've never been there.

Oh, and I bought a can of Hershey's Syrup not too long ago (I actually saved the can when I was done because...well...because). I'll keep my eye out for you.

Cleaning out my inbox... old messages! Yay!

The Fresh Choice I go to sometimes is in Daly City across the freeway from the Serramonte mall. I love the honey butter on the muffins, which of course negates the salad course.

Thanks for watching for the Hershey's for me. I'm such a food-nostalgia whore.

Oh, and...

Looks like San Leandro is the closest one to you. I'm not saying it's worth the travel or anything.

NO WAY NO WAY!!!! I called the company a year or two ago and they said discontinued sorry, but I know they were making them specially for Easter in certain markets (but never here.) I am SO SERIOUS, if you see them you can buy me a CASE and I will pay you double, or just tell me the store's contact info and I will buy direct if they will ship. I'm a freak for those things.

AH HA! That is why I saw them then. I will go and look today and see if they have any left!

I know there are some places on-line that have old/discontinued candies. I'm going to do some searching for you and let you know what I can find.

You are so kind Gen--I've already ordered from them once and they didn't have them, but I'll call them and find out if they somehow found more WWs under a rock or something. Sorry I wasn't quicker with my reply--I've done a lot of googling myself and I watch ebay too... no dice yet. *sigh*

I haven't been able to check their site because it was *just* featured on food network... so I think they're overloading. But there's another option for you!
