Did you know that sleep deprivation has been linked to overeating? Apparently it increases a hunger hormone and decreases the "you're full now" hormone.

I knew it but I didn't *know* it, if you know what I mean.

I've been sleeping very little for the last few days, and spending a lot of time feeling hungry when I know I'm not. It's been very confusing. Finally I remembered reading the above factoid somewhere, and googled it.

Yep, it's true.

That may explain why I've been ravinous of late. Also the weight gain in general.

It's quite natural, if you stop to think about it.

Your body needs *something* to run on. If you don't give it enough rest, it's going to require a higher calorie intake to maintain alertness.

I believe it, when I am manic and up late sometimes I get hungry and want to eat and I know I have had enough for the day. Probably why I can't lose weight.

oooh so THATS why when I was working and going to school I was eating constantly! As soon as I started getting sleep I stopped being hungry all the time! It makes sense to me now.
