Although I am extremely disturbed by the way that the minimum wage is controlled in this country, and I feel very strongly that it should be tied to inflation or some other reasonable financial indicator so that it actually means something, I am pleased that local and state economies can set their own minimum wage. I just got a notice with my business tax bill that San Francisco's minimum wage is now $9.36 per hour.

Yes, our average rent is climbing rapidly ($2,243 average apartment rent in the 3rd quarter of 2007) and our median housing price of $849k is ridiculous. But still, it's something. If we were on the Federal minimum wage of $5.85 per hour, that would be worse.

I like to note this stuff in part because I won't remember later unless I write it down now. In high school, I had a book of lists, including the prices of common items like a movie ticket or a sandwich. I also had a list of all the people I'd kissed, LOL. That list wasn't very long! And the list of movies I'd seen--wow. That list would be gigantic now. I download our Netflix list of movies rented every once in a while; I'm still a recordkeeper. I don't really know why.

Yay! I work Tuesday-Thursday for sure, usually some of Mondays, Sundays and Fridays, but I'm flexible and you are more than welcome anytime. Come on over!
